Many women, in recent years, have been turning to placenta encapsulation. While more studies are still needed to prove it's benefits scientifically, some women claim to have experienced increased iron, reduction in postpartum depression, increased milk production, better hormone balancing, and more.
There are a few different ways people choose to prepare their placenta. I practice the Traditional Chinese Method of placenta encapsulation (TCM) which calls for steaming and dehydrating the placenta before grinding and encapsulating it. After your placenta has been birthed it is imperative that you keep it on ice and get it home to your refrigerator as soon as possible! The easiest way to do this is to bring a cooler to the hospital and then have your partner or a trusted family member transport your placenta.
Once it has been transported I come to your home and prepare it there for you. Typically I like to start the process within 24-48 hours since the process takes two days to complete. It's important to me for you to have your pills no later than day five. The entire process is done in your home around your microbiome.
They amount of pills you receive varies from woman to woman. The average placenta produces somewhere around 80-120 pills. Some placentas have been known to produce as many as 200 and as few as 60. Have questions? Contact me
