Night #1: Labor Basics
In this class, we cover all the basics of labor and then some. Anatomy, hormones (and how they rule labor), phases of labor and what to expect with each, how do you know it's really time, when to go to the hospital, pushing baby out, signs to watch out for and etc.
Night #2: Comfort Measures and Intervention Facts
This is what sets our classes apart from traditional hospital classes. We show you many different comfort and labor positions to help you in labor, floor work with birth balls and peanut balls, and show you how these can help progress labor. We also show partners different massages and counter-pressure options to help relieve pain and relax you in labor and talk about mindful breathing during labor to help keep you calm and relaxed, (no more HEE-HEE-HOOOOO). We then finish up with an in-depth session looking at different medical interventions, your rights in birth and how to effectively communicate with your care provider to get all the information you need to make the best decision for your family.
Night #3: Postpartum Care, Baby Care, and Breastfeeding
Our final class session is all about postpartum. We discuss newborn procedures, how to care for yourself and heal well after birth (whether you had a cesarean birth or vaginal birth), basic newborn care, car seat safety, and breastfeeding 101.
"My husband and I took the Lamaze class and it was awesome! We learned so much and had a lot of fun at the same time. I feel so much more prepared to give birth after taking these classes and would recommend them to anyone! Joey is super down to earth and knowledgeable. If you have the opportunity to enroll, definitely do so - you’ll be SO happy you did!"
